R&D Project Manager, Systems & Options
Home of the cool-headed and warm-hearted.
We are looking for an R&D Project Manager with strong system‑level understanding of complex engineering products to lead the development of advanced cooling system projects within our Systems & Options product team.
This role plays a key part in shaping a strategically important new product, ensuring it is developed in a structured, system‑level manner and brought to a state of full product readiness. You will work at the intersection of technology, product development, and productization, driving complex development projects from early planning through design completion and readiness for productization.
If you are motivated by high‑end technology, complex systems, and working at the forefront of cryogenic solutions for quantum computing, this role offers a unique opportunity to make a real impact.
In this position, you will have end‑to‑end ownership of cooling system development projects. You are responsible for driving structured execution, aligning technical content with schedules and priorities, and ensuring the resulting solution is technically complete, system‑integrated, and scalable.
You operate at system level, coordinating multiple disciplines and guiding project‑level decisions throughout the development phase. While this role requires strong technical understanding of cryogenic systems, you will work in close collaboration with technical leads, product development teams, and productization teams to ensure clarity, alignment, and progress.
We offer you an interesting, challenging, and responsible position as well as the support of a highly skilled growth organization. This is an excellent opportunity for your own professional growth in a dynamic, enthusiastic, and professional team where we work together, and we support each other. We have a multicultural work environment with room to grow, where you can use your potential and develop your skills.
Main responsibilities:
Own and lead cooling system projects from planning through design completion and product readiness
Define and manage project scope, timelines, milestones, dependencies, and risks
Drive execution, follow‑up, and closure across all workstreams
Act as the system‑level project owner, ensuring a coherent, integrated cryogenic solution across subsystems and options
Ensure system requirements, interfaces, and dependencies are clearly defined and managed
Drive alignment on modularity, scalability, and configurability of the remote cooling solution
Lead and coordinate cross‑functional teams without direct line authority
Facilitate alignment between teams, clarify ownership, and remove blockers
What we expect from you
Experience in complex engineered products, example; cryogenics, low-temperature systems, vacuum deposition systems
Degree in physics, engineering, or another relevant technical field
Strong and proven project management skills in complex technical or hardware development projects
Ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive execution without direct line authority
Structured, proactive, and delivery-oriented way of working
Strong understanding of cryogenic systems; familiarity with Bluefors products or equivalent high‑end cryogenic solutions is highly beneficial
Experience translating technical complexity into executable project plans
Ability to balance technical depth with schedule, scope, and prioritization decisions
Excellent collaboration and communication skills in multi-stakeholder environment
Fluency in English, written and spoken
Willingness to travel occasionally
We also appreciate
Experience with modular cooling product architectures
Background in productization, industrialization, or NPI
Familiarity with configuration management, variants, and options
Positive, hands‑on attitude with strong problem‑solving skills
Curiosity and passion for high‑end technology
