Scientist, Cooling
Home of the cool-headed and warm-hearted.
Are you energized by cutting‑edge physics, research & development of real‑world hardware, and solving complex problems that matter? Do you enjoy working close to products, product development and seeing scientific insight turn into something tangible? Join us in enabling breakthrough science alongside curious, highly skilled colleagues.
At Bluefors, we design and manufacture the world’s most advanced cryogenic cooling systems, enabling leading research and emerging technologies such as quantum computing. To strengthen our Cooling team within Offering Development, we are now looking for a Scientist, Cooling with strong physical insight and a clear focus on real‑world products.
In this role, you will work closely on hardware and system development, contributing scientific expertise directly to the design, validation, and optimization of cryogenic cooling systems. You will collaborate closely with engineers, system experts, and project teams, translating physical understanding into practical, robust, and scalable solutions. Your work will support system‑level decision‑making and help ensure Bluefors’ cooling solutions meet the demanding requirements of advanced scientific and industrial applications. You will engage in international collaboration with Bluefors teams and external partners, contributing to joint development.
We are looking for an expert who enjoys combining theory with practice, is curious about how systems behave in the real world and takes pride in building solutions that work reliably outside the lab. You will operate in a multidisciplinary environment where scientific thinking, engineering execution, and collaboration go hand in hand.
We offer you an interesting, challenging, and responsible position, supported by a highly skilled and growing organization. This is an excellent opportunity for your own professional growth in a dynamic, enthusiastic, and professional team where we work together and support each other. We offer a multicultural working environment with room to grow, where you can fully use your potential and continuously develop your skills.
Main responsibilities:
Apply physics‑based understanding to the development and optimization of cryogenic cooling systems
Analyze and model thermal, mechanical, and physical phenomena in cryogenic environments
Participate in concept development, validation activities, and structured problem‑solving
Collaborate closely with engineers, system experts, and project teams
Contribute to continuous improvement of cooling performance, robustness, and reliability
Document and communicate scientific findings clearly to diverse technical and non‑technical stakeholders
What we expect from you:
MSc or PhD in physics or a closely related field
Strong understanding of physics relevant to cryogenic or low‑temperature systems
Ability to translate theoretical insight into practical engineering relevance
Analytical and structured way of working
Curiosity, critical thinking, and a solution‑oriented mindset
Excellent collaboration and communication skills in a multi‑stakeholder environment
Fluency in English, both written and spoken
We also appreciate:
Experience with cryogenics, low‑temperature physics
Experience working close to hardware or experimental systems
Experience of Mechanical Engineering (CAD software)
Experience of software tools related to measurements and data analyses (Python)
Exposure to multidisciplinary product development environments
A positive, hands‑on attitude with strong problem‑solving skills
Curiosity and passion for high‑end technology
